I was preaching in a small village in India back in 1995. Though I had no desire to become a “faith healer,” I heard God speak clearly: “I want to heal the sick today.” I resisted, but eventually obeyed. A woman brought her son, about 12 years old, who had polio and couldn’t walk—his legs were bent beneath him. I did everything I was taught—James 5, oil, prayer—but nothing worked. Then God gently rebuked me: “When will you rely on Me?” At that moment, I stopped relying on formulas and simply obeyed. I commanded the boy, “Get up and walk.” Instantly, something went out of me, into him—and he stood. His legs straightened in front of us, and he walked. It was a miracle I will never forget. The Lord truly healed him—not through ritual, but through reliance on Jesus.
