What does it actually look like to grow with God?
For Jo Deep, one of the biggest questions he had was “How do I actually live righteously?”
He knew he needed to pray. He knew he needed to study the Bible. But he struggled with guilt around the way he learned, especially because reading the Bible wasn’t his easiest way of understanding things. He would listen to an audio Bible and feel like he wasn’t being a “serious Christian” enough.
Then something changed.
He began to understand that the goal was to understand the Word of God.
If listening helped him understand, he could listen.
If visual tools helped him understand, he could use them.
If holding the physical Bible and reading helped him, he could do that too.
And as he began to consume God’s Word without trying to prove how serious he was, the Word began to find its way into his heart.
And instead of running from the Word because he felt dirty or hypocritical, Jo began to understand something about spiritual growth: you don’t shame a baby for being a baby. You feed it. You nurture it. You give it time to grow.
This is a conversation about the Bible, spiritual growth, discipleship, the Holy Spirit, God’s Word and learning to walk with God without turning your relationship with Him into a performance.
If you’ve ever felt like you’re not “Christian enough,” you’re not studying the Bible properly, or you should have grown more by now, I think you’ll really want to hear this one.
