David Pawson explores the life of Jesus — from his birth, public ministry, miracles, morality and message, condemnation and crucifixion to his resurrection — emphasising his uniqueness as the only person who ever chose to be born. He highlights ways in which Jesus was saying he was God as he spoke about himself. David also distinguishes the life and teaching of Jesus from those of all other religious leaders and founders while cautioning that we cannot merge the world’s religions.

David also identifies four possible relationships between religions that currently co-exist in multi-cultural Britain: hostility and antagonism, separatism, pluralism/relativism, and syncretism. Acknowledging the pressure that there is to conform to the latter two approaches and to “syncretise religion” for the sake of social harmony, he sees this trend intensifying until it ultimately culminates in “a world religion led by a false prophet” in which there will be pressure on all people to join. To prepare for and defend against this a Christian must hold to their certainty of “the uniqueness of Christ”.

The Christian faith itself is unique; it is open to all but can never be mixed with other religions. Therefore, it is the Christian’s duty to share the good news regardless of the cost.
