Alissa grew up in the dark. For 19 years, she carried a “plate of unworthiness”—abuse, failure, and the heavy weight of trying to survive. Then, she got to the end of herself and handed the plate to Jesus. She traded her darkness for His light.

As leaders and creators, this is why we steward these stories.

We aren’t just “making content.” We are pointing the camera at the rescue mission. When a church hears Alissa’s heart, the “ask” stops and the focus starts being about people. It’s a sermon in and of itself for the person stuck in a dark room with their own depressing thoughts, wondering if God even knows their name.

Stories like Alissa’s remind us that we don’t build just for the sake of a bigger building. We build so that the “one” always has a seat.

“The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.” John 1:5
