The Chrisitan faith is based on historical fact and everything hinges on the truth of the resurrection of Jesus from the dead. David Pawson states that “Without the resurrection you could not believe in Jesus. He (Jesus) said things about himself that are just not true if he didn’t rise from the dead. If he did, everything he said is true and he is vindicated before the world. The choice we have about Jesus: he was either a lunatic, a liar or the Lord!”
David invites us to examine the evidence for the resurrection as presented in the Gospel accounts. He explores six aspects of the events that took place at that time: their sequence and significance, the evidence for and essence of the resurrection, its consequences for humanity, and the experience – “because that is what finally convinces you when you yourself meet the risen, ascended, living Lord”.
David asks why more people are not convinced that Jesus rose from the dead and concludes that it is because of their reluctance (or refusal) to consider the evidence. If the evidence is compelling, then one’s life has to change in response to it.
