Nice to see you again, berry sweet bakers! Today we’re making fluttery butterfly cookies with swirly, colorful icing that looks like magic marmalade. Let’s bake something berry special.

What You’ll Need
● Ready-to-bake sugar cookie dough
● Ready-to-use cookie icing in multiple colors
● Butterfly-shaped cookie cutter (about 2–3 inches wide)

Ask a grown-up to help set the oven to 350Β°F and move the rack to the middle.

Let’s Bake the Butterflies

1. Roll the Dough
Take the cookie dough out of the package. If it’s pre-cut or in a tube, gently press it together into one big dough ball, like pizza dough. Lightly flour the counter and roll the dough out until it’s about Β½ inch thick.
2. Cut the Butterflies
Press the butterfly cookie cutter into the dough to make as many butterflies as you can. Gather up the leftover dough, roll it again, and cut more butterflies. No dough left behind.
3. Bake Time
Place the butterfly cookies on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
Bake for 11–14 minutes, until the edges look set and lightly golden.
Let them cool completely before decorating.

Marmalade Swirl Decorating Fun

1. Pick Your Colors
Choose three icing colors for each cookie. Strawberry Shortcake bakers love one white and two bright, fruity colors.
2. Get the Icing Ready
The icing should be runny like honey. If it’s too thick, add Β½ teaspoon of water at a time and stir until it flows nicely. Put each color into its own bowl.
3. Swirl Like Magic
Starting with the white icing, spoon a little onto a plate, then add a little of each icing color. Make swirls, waves, or even a butterfly pattern by using a toothpick or fork and gently dragging it through the icing.
Grab and dip a cooled cookie, face down into the colors. Lift and set aside to let the icing harden.
Feel free to make a couple different plates with different color patterns for dipping. Most importantly, have fun! Every cookie should be unique and special!
4. Let Them Set
The icing dries quickly, so after just a few minutes, your marmalade butterflies are ready to enjoy.
