The story of the United States simply cannot be told without the pivotal events that took place in the summer and fall of 1620. That year, a group of courageous English Christians, seeking a land to worship God according to the statutes of scripture and not according to the demands of the state church, embarked on a treacherous voyage across the Atlantic Ocean. Men, women, and children, accompanied by a handful of explorers searching for adventure in the New World, spent more than 9 weeks crammed into the tiny Mayflower at the mercy of the violent north Atlantic. Miraculously, providentially, they survived the crossing and survived the brutal first winter where nearly half their crew perished. The result was world-changing: the foundation of a new colony that would grow to someday become a new nation.
