John Marco Allegro’s famous book “The Sacred Mushroom and the Cross” alleged that the founding of Christianity was due to a gigantic misunderstanding and was actually just psychedelic mushroom experiences combined with ancient fertility rituals. This theory is often repeated by Joe Rogan on his podcast. I weigh in and give some of my thoughts.
