From the age of 3, Margaret was verbally and physically abused regularly at a children’s home in Northern Ireland, until she was told by one of the nuns she had to leave aged just 11. This is Margaret’s astonishing, transformational story of how she went from being an angry young woman in prison, to being the leader of a charity set up to give a voice to victims of historic abuse in Northern Ireland.

“I was arrested so many times and I was on probation or sent to jail. And then, this
happened so often that even the ‘screws’, the wardens got to know me so well, as well
as the police and the army… I wasn’t changed overnight, there was a lot of work that had to be done in me. I still had to live with that anger and rage, you know, and it wasn’t going to be fixed in a week or a year or two years…” – Margaret
