Robin Cavendish was twenty-eight, newly married, and living in Kenya when polio paralyzed him from the neck down. Doctors gave him a few months and told his wife to leave him in the hospital ward where men in his condition were kept alive and out of sight.

Diana took him home instead. With her twin brothers and an Oxford inventor named Teddy Hall, they built a wheelchair with a respirator in it, something nobody had done, and Robin became one of the first responder-dependent patients in Britain to live outside a hospital. He spent the rest of his life raising money, testing equipment, and pushing for disabled people to be allowed lives of their own.

Produced by Jonathan Cavendish as a tribute to his parents. Andy Serkis directs his first feature, from a script by William Nicholson and camerawork by three-time Academy Award winner Robert Richardson.
