AFTER A 2 HOUR ENCOUNTER, HE COULD SEE IN THE SPIRIT | Brent Borthwick

After three and a half months of intense prayer and fasting, Brent Borthwick says everything changed.

Following a powerful two-hour encounter with God, Brent’s spiritual eyes were opened and he began to SEE IN THE SPIRIT.

In this extraordinary episode of Encounterable, Brent shares how his journey took him from a strongly cessationist background into supernatural encounters with the Holy Spirit, prophecy, speaking in tongues, angelic armies, spiritual warfare and the seer gift.

Brent grew up as a missionary kid in the Amazon jungle, later walked away from God and became immersed in the rock-and-roll lifestyle. Then, in 1982, a motorcycle crash at approximately 140 mph should have killed him.

He walked away.

That night, Brent realised God had spared his life and surrendered himself back to Jesus.

Years later, while ministering in Mexico, Brent began asking why the supernatural encounters he read about throughout Scripture weren’t happening in his own life.

So he began to contend.

For three and a half months he prayed, fasted and asked God to open his spiritual eyes.

Then came a two-hour encounter with God.

When Brent emerged, his own children told him:

‘Dad, you’re glowing.’

But his eyes still hadn’t been opened to see.

Later that night, Brent told God he was exhausted and ready to quit ministry.

Then he heard:

‘Brent, what is it you’ve been asking Me for?’

Brent answered: for his eyes to be opened to see supernaturally.

The response:

‘Then sit up and look around.’

Brent says he suddenly began seeing into the spiritual realm.

From there, the stories are remarkable.

He describes seeing angels and demons, experiencing what he calls ’50-50′ vision where he could see the natural and supernatural simultaneously, and seeing an enormous angelic army entering a church while he preached.

As Brent shared what he was seeing, people began crying, running forward to surrender their lives to Jesus and experiencing healing.

Brent also shares how his leaders tested his supernatural sight, including an extraordinary moment when he described cars and licence plates outside a restaurant that he could not physically see.

In Tijuana, Mexico, Brent says he saw the army of God surrounding his evangelism team as they entered dangerous gang territory. A detailed word of knowledge led one gang member to Jesus, and later several more gang members came to church and surrendered their lives to Christ.

Ben and Brent also talk about prayer and fasting, the Word and the Spirit, speaking in tongues, prophecy, spiritual warfare, discernment, angels, supernatural encounters, revival, evangelism and how to pursue the supernatural without losing biblical foundations or accountability.

Brent’s message is simple:

Jesus is real. The spiritual realm is real. And we were created to actually experience relationship with God.
