Fans of Alex Kendrick’s landmark Fireproof tale on marriage and forgiveness cannot miss this Christian faith-based family movie, directed by Jane John-Nwankwo. The film bridges traditional melodrama with moral fable-telling to examine how personal romantic desires disrupt foundational familial ties.

The narrative centers on two sisters whose lifelong bond, forged through years of shared devotion and mutual understanding, unravels when they both fall in love with Joshua, an unsuspecting man who becomes the reluctant epicenter of their emotional friction. As their unspoken rivalry escalates into open confrontation, the sisters are forced to reckon not only with their feelings for Joshua, but with long-buried family dynamics and the true measure of forgiveness.

Critically, the central performances—anchored by Jane John-Nwankwo alongside Brian Picado as Joshua—bring a stark, earnest directness to the material, leaning into the heightened theatrical emotionality characteristic of low-budget devotional dramas.

Produced and distributed through Lewabo Media Group, Not My Man prioritizes intimate indoor spaces and conversational staging over ornate cinematographic flourishes, relying on plain-spoken dialogue and moral clarity to anchor its emotional stakes. Within the sub-genre of Christian family drama, it operates as a cautionary slice-of-life study that favors thematic resolution through grace and self-sacrifice over sensationalism.
