There were lots of new and different things about this story. The first and most noticeable creative decisions that were made was the way we filmed the interview. I wanted her looking straight into camera and we didn’t have an eye direct so we had to use two cameras and our teleprompter. The Red was filming Jordan and was setup with our teleprompter and she was seeing the interviewer from the C200 feed in the back of the room. For the interviewer to see her, we ran the feed from the Red to a monitor mounted just above the lens on the C200 so they could see Jordan. It looked kind of crazy on set but I love the result we got in the final image.

I also used a vintage Helios 44-2 58mm/f2 for the interview shot wide open so the image could look soft and really give the background a swirly bokeh effect.

We had recently got a kit of Astera Titan tubes so we had lots of fun with those both in the studio shots and on the beach. Having app control on those things was awesome!

Of course Jordan told her story was super well and was great on camera. I’m so grateful she was open and willing to tell such a personal and powerful story about her journey about acceptance and anxiety. We originally were going a different direction in the first half of the interview but found what she talked about in the final piece to be much more impactful and relatable.

Also Micah Nichols scored the video with stems from Seacoast Music’s new song by Destiny Zavala, “Suddenly (feat. Caroline Collins)” and that was different than just using Musicbed. Turned out great too!

Originally aired at Seacoast Church during the 2020 Chosen Women’s Conference.
