in August 1991, Ron and his associates were kidnapped in eastern Turkey while killing time, waiting to pick up an excavation permit for Noah’s Ark. They were held for 21 days and it was a terrible experience for all affected. When he returned home, Ron sat down and had me (his wife) record him telling of his experience. He believed that all people who follow Jesus and work in God’s vineyard will be persecuted and this is to be expected. He wanted people to understand this and to persevere and not get discouraged by the slings and arrows of the prince of this planet, because God remains, ultimately, in control. His permit was rescinded as was the funding after this terrible event. He concluded that either it was not time to excavate, or that God did not want it done at all.
