Russ Taff joins Cheryl Weber to share about his abusive upbringing, his musical career and his battle with alcoholism.
Russ is a six-time Grammy-award winner who has just released his first new album in 7 years, “Believe.” He was born the fourth of five sons to a fire-breathing Pentecostal preacher father and a gospel music-loving mother. Rising to prominence with The Imperials, trailblazers of the contemporary Christian music movement of the 1970s, Taff was the voice behind such quintessential hits as “Praise the Lord,” “Trumpet of Jesus” and “I’m Forgiven,” among many others. Recently Russ’ personal behind the scenes battle with alcoholism has been chronicled in the documentary “I Still Believe,” which has just been released in theatres.
