“One Step at a Time” by Leslie Shivers
Summary
I am Leslie Shivers. Growing up in McDonough, Georgia, I was blessed with amazing parents who raised me and my siblings to know Jesus. Dance was my passion, and I danced professionally for 12 years with a Christian touring ballet company. At 28, I was diagnosed with an early form of breast cancer. My friends and fellow dancers prayed for me, setting the tone for my three-year battle. I moved to Atlanta for treatment and struggled with feelings of lost dreams and purpose. Discovering the Living Waters program provided me with a supportive community and deepened my relationship with God. Through His abundant goodness and guidance, my cancer treatment year of 2019 became one of the most blessed years of my life. I now teach sixth-grade girls dance, using my gift to glorify God and bring joy to my life and others.

Leslie’s life was turned upside-down by a cancer diagnosis. Leaning on her faith in Christ, as well as her family and church during the years that followed, she gained new insight into what it means for God to direct her life, “one step at a time.”
