Summary

I am Li Chenxi, a Chinese Christian who spent nearly three decades under the CCP’s relentless persecution. My troubles began at just thirteen, when the police locked me in a small, dark room for attending a gathering. They later targeted my entire family—arresting my parents, brutally beating my father, and subjecting him to public humiliation right in front of me. Forced to flee my hometown, I was haunted by official threats and found myself constantly on the run to avoid repeated raids. While living away from home, I joined brothers and sisters in spreading the gospel throughout China, often narrowly escaping arrest. Though I endured dark prison cells, forced labor, and cruel interrogations, God’s words gave me comfort and courage. During my final arrest, the authorities tried every tactic, hoping I would betray my faith. They deprived me of sleep, subjected me to mental torment, and attempted to shatter my will. My heart condition worsened, and my mother’s mental health declined under long-term intimidation. Even after I was released on bail, the police monitored my every move. In spite of it all, I’ve never ceased believing that Almighty God carries me through adversity. What sustained me was the steadfast hope of His promise, which fueled my spirit to remain faithful and share the truth with others who long for God’s salvation.

Christian Movie Based on True Stories | “Branded” | 28 Years of Persecution by the CCP

Li Chenxi has attended gatherings and read the Bible with her parents since she was little. In 1988 at just 13 years old, she’s arrested while attending a gathering, then locked up in a small, dark room for one day and two nights. From then on, the CCP never stops persecuting her. She’s once again arrested by the police at 17 for sending books of God’s words to other brothers and sisters in the church. In an effort to force her to reveal the source of the books, the police brutally beat her father right in front of her, and parade her through the streets labeled as a “political prisoner.” In 1996, the police come to arrest Li Chenxi once again. She has no choice but to flee her hometown and begin the life of a fugitive. The CCP police’s frequent harassment and intimidation leaves her entire family living in a constant state of terror. Unable to withstand the long-term stress and fear, her mother has a mental breakdown, and her father, who already suffered from health problems, sees his condition deteriorate even further because of the police’s brutal beating. A once-happy family is thus torn apart. While on the run, Li Chenxi joins brothers and sisters in spreading the gospel all over the country. They suffer under the CCP’s reign of terror, suppressed and arrested time and time again. Some brothers and sisters are arrested and then savagely tortured. Some are beaten to death, and some are given prison sentences of more than 10 years. In late 2012, Li Chenxi is arrested once again while sharing the gospel and undergoes four long months of interrogations, attempts to extort confessions, and brainwashing.
