Forced Paths, Ordered Steps / JEMAL DAMTAWE
Summary
I was kidnapped and forced into becoming a child soldier during the Ethiopian civil war. Enduring relentless violence and witnessing unspeakable horrors, I was captured for two years. After fleeing, I fell into the depths of addiction—drugs, alcohol, and even pornography—leading to gang life and homelessness. In my darkest moments, I found hope at Union Gospel Mission. Through crying out to God and experiencing His transformative love, I was set free. Today, as a pastor, my life stands as a testament to Jesus’ power to deliver and restore even the most broken lives.
