Jim’s Story
Summary
About seven years ago, I began sinking into depression. I felt completely alone and pushed everyone away, even confining myself to a 10-foot by 10-foot room that eventually became my prison. On December 6th, 2013, at 7:30 in the morning, I reached a breaking point and decided to end my life—I just wanted the pain to stop. Thankfully, I reached out for help and began counseling. A really good friend suggested I come back to Christ, even recommending LCBC to me. I sat outside my car for 45 minutes, struggling with the idea of leaving my isolation for hundreds of people. When I finally went in, it was amazing—I took communion for the first time in over 40 years. The very next day, while visiting my parents, I realized that the torment I had suffered for years was gone; a weight had been lifted from my shoulders. My life truly changed by Christ.
