My name is Vangai. I endured a life of unimaginable abuse in Afghanistan – forced into marriage as a child, beaten, and even attacked with acid, which scarred my face forever. In the depths of my despair, while undergoing surgery in South Korea, I discovered the true power of Jesus Christ. His love transformed my life, and I gave my life to Him. When the Taliban threatened to release my brutal husband, I fled with my children, siblings, and mother, finding refuge first in Pakistan and then in Brazil. Today, I stand as a testament to God’s redemption, gratitude, and unyielding faith. I am forever grateful to Jesus for rescuing me from affliction and granting me a new life.

When the Taliban rose to power, the release of Vangai’s husband’s became imminent. She and her children were forced to flee Afghanistan.
