Just as food fills our bellies, strengthens our bodies and helps us grow, God’s Word fills our spirits, nourishes our hearts and gives us life. Jesus calls Himself the Bread of Life because each time we hear or read about Him in God’s Word, we are strengthened — in what we believe, in how we think, and even in how we feel.

In the biblical account of the Road to Emmaus, we also see how powerful God’s Word truly is. As the disciples listened to Jesus open the Scriptures to them, their hearts burned within them — and they were so strengthened and energised that they immediately got up and walked back to Jerusalem that same day. It’s a beautiful reminder that God’s Word not only nourishes our spirits but can also fill us with the strength we need!
