There is HOPE: overcoming illness and assault through Christ’s redemption
Summary
Hi, my name is Megan Mener. I grew up attending church and soaking in the early messages of faith, yet I always felt a hunger for a deeper understanding. My early years were marked by curiosity as I hopped from one church to another with my mom, absorbing every lesson about Jesus. However, during my first year of college, my life took a drastic turn when my drink was drugged and I was assaulted. The trauma from that incident, along with the emotional fallout and the subsequent failure in school, left me feeling broken and hopeless. I eventually returned home, overwhelmed by despair and haunted by the abuse and chronic health challenges that had plagued me for years. Then, a transformative encounter at Hope Family Church shifted everything—through prayer, heartfelt fellowship, and a renewed focus on scripture, I experienced God’s undeniable redemption. His love not only healed my physical and emotional wounds, including overcoming autoimmunity, but also restored my hope and redirected my life. Today, I share my testimony to encourage anyone who feels isolated by trauma to lean on Jesus, who offers the free gift of grace and healing.
