The mother wasn’t brave, but she had faith in God. She was alone in Germany on the journey to treat her only son, who had suffered an accident that caused a severed spinal cord.
Their son, Mano, began to respond after the surgeries. The mantra of his treatment was finding ability amid disability. When asked in the hospital what he liked, he said he loved computers, so he received a voice-operated computer as a gift. This device changed his life. After the accident, Mano wanted to continue his studies online; he had been studying engineering, but he couldn’t pursue that, so he managed to study business administration and graduated from an American university. He excelled and became self-reliant in his studies. Most importantly, he grew closer to God, and seeing the man of God eased all his pain and suffering.
Mano became stronger mentally and spiritually, developing a strong personality despite the challenges. This experience wasn’t from God; it was like a purifying fire and a reason for his salvation. His health condition and weakness became a source of strength, and he spoke powerfully about God. He shared his story with Nick in a large meeting; Nick was born without hands and legs. God preserved Mano’s spirit and mind to glorify His name. Maher Samuel commented that his family named him Emmanuel, meaning “God with us,” and that wherever he goes, he will send the message to others that God is present. This was a response to his family’s question of why this accident happened, and in it, there was healing. This illness is not for death.
