El concurso Golden Voices se realizará en Terrell Christian College este año, pero no tienen coro. El vicedecano de TCC obliga a Georgia, jefa del departamento de música, a formar un coro o perder su trabajo. Georgia resulta herida y su nieta, Sidney, la ayuda. Sidney contrata a un ex cantante de R&B con un pasado turbio, Jax, para que le ayude con el coro. El decano se entera de la historia de Jax y amenaza con despedir a Georgia nuevamente si no ganan.
