Brent’s Story
Summary
I once ran what I believed was a very successful law practice and even had a client who became the largest in our firm. I trusted him, thinking he was honest, until I discovered his deceit. When he was indicted by the federal government for his misdeeds, the situation spiraled out of my control. In 2005, I faced the frightening possibility of spending 12 to 15 years in prison for crimes I didn’t commit. I cried myself to sleep night after night, pleading with God to show me His will—whether I should go to jail or stay with my family. With God’s help, the judge sentenced me to six months of house arrest instead. That pivotal moment led me to search for a church where I could truly belong. I parked my truck with my family, feeling the welcoming embrace of a church that felt like home. Although I was baptized as a child, I felt compelled to outwardly proclaim that I am a child of God. Today, I am an enormously happy man—leading a small group, volunteering, and serving as a director on weekends in Morrisville. I continually ask God what He wants for me, and I trust that His guidance is leading me every day.
