Summary
SummaryβI come from a small village in the south of the Central African Republic, where in March 2023 a militant group attacked our church and shops. We fled, but after the army drove the attackers away, I returned alone to encourage my community and begin rebuilding. Though the rainy season delayed our roofing, we continue to worship under the trees and praise Godβs faithfulness as we rebuild our church and homes with the support of Open Doors Canada and our unwavering faith. ππ½π³π β
In March 2023 inhabitants of this tiny village in the south of the Central African Republic woke to an attack by a militant Muslim group. That group attacked government soldiers that were based in and around the village, but the inhabitants of the village believe that they were the real targets, because they are Christians. The attackers did indeed move to the house of the village pastor who happened to not be at home. They stole some church money, burnt down the church and some shops in the village. That’s when the government army came in. The attackers moved out, but the damage had been done. Open Doors came to help. We try to help Christians who live in hard places to keep on living there if possible. The Christians in this village show their resilience by continuing with church services, even if they have to do so under the trees.
