Summary

Growing up, my father was my hero who provided me with everything material. However, when our relationship shifted and hurtful words were exchanged, I developed deep resentment. The pain of feeling abandoned and unloved by the one person I adored overwhelmed me. Over time, after years of bitterness and anger—reflected in sleepless nights, acting out at school, and distancing myself—I began to see that holding on to this pain was robbing me of freedom. With the guidance of a mentor and the healing power of Christ, I reached out to my father, started to rebuild our relationship, and ultimately forgave him. Forgiveness freed me from the chains of bitterness and brought me closer to God, who reminded me that forgiving is not for the offender’s benefit, but for our own healing and salvation.

My father was my hero growing up. He gave me everything I could have wanted materialistically as a child. One day, our relationship shifted dramatically and I began to develop a deep resentment towards him. I had to learn to forgive him for my own freedom.

This is my story.
