Summary

I was trapped in a deep and overwhelming depression, struggling to get out of bed, care for my children, and complete basic daily tasks. I felt imprisoned by sadness and despair, and even had moments of not wanting to live. Despite knowing the Lord, I struggled to take authority over my emotions, feeling that nothing was working. My husband, Ray, prayed earnestly for me, though he felt helpless to provide a tangible solution. One day, I was led to watch Gloria Copeland teach on the power of words and speaking God’s truth over our lives. That revelation changed everything. I started actively applying scripture, speaking against depression in the name of Jesus, and immersing myself in the Word. When the familiar heaviness tried to return, I stood firm and rebuked it with scripture. As I embraced God’s truth, joy replaced sorrow, and I realized that I no longer had to live under the oppression of depression. God’s Word became my victory, setting me free from sadness and despair.

Sarah Lutz desperately wanted to overcome the depression that held her prisoner, and her husband, Ray, wanted to know how to help her deal with that depression. His only option was to pray… and pray hard. Plagued with sadness and dread, Sarah struggled just to get out of bed. Caring and feeding her children were almost too much to handle. Every day the heaviness grew. She had no idea how to overcome the depression that had trapped her.
Then one day, she felt impressed to watch the Believer’s Voice of Victory broadcast. Though Sarah had known of Kenneth and Gloria Copeland, she hadn’t ever listened to them. That day, she tuned in to hear Gloria Copeland teach about the power of words and the necessity of speaking God’s Word. That message changed Sarah’s life and began her journey to healing. She learned how to stand against the spirit of depression and call on the name of Jesus. She learned the significance of keeping the Word of God before her eyes, on her lips and in front of her eyes. The result: the sadness that had overwhelmed her began to lift. Sarah became convinced that God wanted her healed, that Jesus had paid the price on the cross for her healing from depression and that a life of mood-enhancing drugs was not God’s best for her.
Thankfully, Sarah discovered a life worth living, a life free from sadness and despair. She learned how to overcome depression with God’s Word. Sarah is now a Kenneth Copeland Ministries’ Partner, and she now hopes that by sharing her story, others will be inspired to overcome depression with God’s Word, too.
