Summary
My name is Derek Day, and I'm 30 years old. Growing up, I was saved but chose to walk away from God, ignoring the conviction inside me. I hardened my heart until I felt nothing, chasing feelings that led me to homelessness, living out of my car and on the streets. I became addicted to drugs and alcohol, sleeping in shelters, tents, or gas station bathrooms to stay warm in winter. I hung out with other addicts, got in trouble, and ended up in jail multiple times. In desperation, I prayed to God, vowing to serve Him if He freed me from addiction, knowing I couldn't do it alone. He began a process of healing, removing the cravings supernaturally and clearing my mind from delusions. I've been diagnosed with bipolar, schizoaffective disorder, anxiety, ADHD, and depression, but God healed me from these as I turned from sin. I entered Teen Challenge, where I learned to surrender fully, relying on His strength. It was tough at first, but His love carried me through, teaching me His character and how to hear His voice. I graduated on October 3rd, got baptized as an adult, and dedicated my life to Christ. Now, He's freed me from fear, laziness, and lack of discipline, turning my dark, scary life into one of purpose. I even started painting and faced a trigger that smelled like meth, but it repulsed me, showing how God has made me strong in Him. Without Christ, I'm not good, but His goodness changes everything. I'm hungry for more of God, loving Him and others better, and I know I'm not going back. πβ¨
