Summary

My name is Jonathan Bennett. Growing up, I felt constant fear of not living up to what others expected, especially after my father came out as gay and my parents divorced. I worried people would assume I was gay too, so I dived into alcohol, pornography, and relationships—anything to prove I wasn’t like my dad. Even though I was raised Southern Baptist, I mostly viewed God as a punisher, not a loving Father. Over time, I realized my addictions and shame were destroying me. When I finally cried out to God, He showed me His unconditional love. I turned back to church, met believers who were genuinely Spirit-led, and saw I could let go of my fears instead of drowning them in booze or lust. Finding my identity in Jesus, rather than my father’s failures or my past mistakes, brought peace and freedom I never thought possible. Today, I’m married, active in ministry, and excited to help others discover how God’s grace can transform even the deepest hurts and addictions.
