Finding Home, Finding Faith | Evelyn’s Story
Summary
My name is Evelyn Coston. I grew up in Philadelphia with my father serving as a pastor at Memorial Tabernacle Baptist Church. Although I spent my early years surrounded by church activities, I never truly understood Jesus. Life later brought harsh challenges: I was diagnosed with cervical cancer and experienced the heartbreak of losing my child. Soon after, I faced homelessness after being evicted, feeling abandoned and questioning if God was still with me. In my deepest despair, I prayed until I heard God say, ‘Do not lean on humans. I need you to lean on me. Depend on me.’ Once I let go and trusted Him fully, doors began to open. I found shelter in Lancaster and discovered a new church home at LCBC, where I experienced His healing and restoration. Today, my heart is filled with hope and a renewed passion for God—a true testimony of transformation by Christ.
