Bless You Prison: The True Story of Nicoleta Valery Grossu (2009) | Full Movie | Maria Ploae
Summary
I am Nicoleta Valery Grossu, and in 1949 I was taken from my home and thrust into a Communist prison in Romania, accused of treasonous acts I never committed. The nights of interrogation felt endless, and the guards’ brutality pushed me beyond my limits. In those desperate hours, I discovered that God’s word was my only refuge. With Psalm 91 etched onto the prison walls, I found the courage to remain strong and compassionate. Even as I witnessed friends betray one another out of fear, I clung to the belief that Christ was with me behind bars. Despite enduring forced labor at the Danube–Black Sea Canal, torture, and cruel treatment by both guards and inmates, I saw hearts stirred by prayer and worship. Some found renewed faith; others learned to forgive the tormentors who once broke them. Although my release came abruptly—and with orders that my entire ordeal be forgotten—my faith remains unshaken. I emerged from that grim place with a deeper conviction that Jesus sustained me every step of the way, and nothing the regime did could take His peace from my heart.

The true story of Nicoleta Valery Grossu’s amazing survival in a Romanian Communist prison camp and how faith in the Lord enabled her to transcend the relentless cruelty. It was an experience unspeakably brutal…To be taken away from home and thrown in jail without any trial. To be interrogated night after night, having to spend your days in a cell.
To be tortured to give away innocent people. To have the courage to say what you think no matter the consequences. To see how a fellow inmate swaps sides and becomes your worst enemy. Not to be able to help your beloved ones imprisoned along with you. You can betray. You can die. Or you can find God. Nicoleta Valery Grossu found God in the communist prisons.
Blessed be thy name, prison! This is the story of her life.
