Summary

My name is Caroline Yeager. I grew up in an extremely sheltered, cult-like church where even simple acts like cutting your hair or going to the movies were forbidden, out of fear they would lead to losing salvation. I married the son of the head pastor—a union that was far from ideal as I suffered verbal abuse and constant blame for every misfortune. My pain deepened with the tragic loss of my premature twin boys and the ongoing terror that any wrong attitude might cause further loss of my children. Overwhelmed by isolation and despair, I reached a breaking point and even contemplated ending my life. It was then that a visit to my brother introduced me to Andrew Wommack’s teachings. As I listened day and night, I encountered the sinner’s prayer for the first time and experienced a radical transformation. My husband, too, eventually embraced Jesus as his Savior. Today, I stand free from the chains of my past—a life once dictated by oppressive traditions now transformed by the redeeming love of Christ. My testimony is a declaration of hope, urging others to trust in God’s power to restore and liberate.

The church Caroline grew up in was the same that both her parents had been raised in, as well as her nine siblings. They were so sheltered that they believed that they couldn’t spend time with anyone that had their hair cut or went to the movies, out of fear they would succumb to temptation and lose their salvation. They couldn’t wear pants or even go to the beach. Caroline knew that God was real, but she didn’t understand who Jesus was, and as far as she was concerned, the Holy Spirit was only there to prick your conscience when you were doing something wrong.

Caroline married the son of the head pastor. It seemed an ideal marriage, but she was not in love. He was verbally abusive, demeaning everything she had to say, blaming her for any of the children’s wrongdoings. Caroline prayed that God would give her a husband that loved her, loved her children, and loved the Lord. Four years after getting married, Caroline was pregnant with twin boys. The boys were born three months premature, but the church believed that going to the hospital would send you to hell, both boys passed away.

She later had seven more children but believed that if she had the wrong attitude or got angry towards her husband, that God would cause her children to die or that she would die in childbirth. Both Caroline’s sister and sister-in-law had died in childbirth. She questioned why God would give someone twelve children and then take her life. They would tell the children that God needed their mother in heaven, but with that many children being left behind, how could that be? Caroline lived in constant fear that one of her children would get sick because of something she did wrong. One night it all became too much for her. She had a rope in hand and told God that she couldn’t do it anymore. When it came down to it, she felt that if she went through with it, she would never get to see God and there was nothing she needed more.

Caroline’s Mother and Brother had both left the church, which meant she was never to speak with them. But Caroline went up to visit her brother and ended up staying the night. As she was leaving, her brother gave her a bag full of Andrew Wommack’s tapes and told her she could find more online if she wanted. She started listening to Andrew Wommack’s free teachings day and night, taking in as much as she could. Her husband was surprised at her newfound understanding, knowing she had struggled to grasp the scripture’s meanings. She now had revelation knowledge!
One day while listening to Andrew, she heard the Sinner’s Prayer. Caroline had never even heard of this before but felt compelled to pray it herself. She felt for the first time that she was truly saved, despite being raised to believe that wasn’t a possibility. Seeing the change in her, Caroline’s husband began his own research and ultimately received Jesus as his savior.

Caroline thought of her friend Virginia Croy, with whom she hadn’t spoken in 7 years. (Watch Virginia Croy’s story here:

) Deciding to call her up, the women ended up speaking for hours. After a while, Caroline asked Virginia if she had heard of Andrew Wommack. Virginia told her that funnily enough, she was planning to go to his conference that very weekend. Virginia asked Caroline if she would consider coming along, and when Caroline accepted, she found all the pieces came together for her to be able to go. Saturday morning came, and Caroline found herself feeling incredibly ill with the flu, aches and pains, and a headache. As soon as she got to the hotel, she told Virginia she couldn’t make it to the conference. But realizing it was the devil trying to keep her from going and that there was something she needed to hear there, Caroline got up and went despite the sickness. When Andrew asked if there was anyone who wanted to be baptized in the Holy Spirit, she didn’t want to miss out on anything that God had for her, and she chose to go forward. Andrew led her in her baptism and immediately Caroline was healed from the sickness she had been fighting.

Moving forward she was no longer afraid of wearing pants, cutting her hair, or anything else she had been made to fear might send her to hell. She was free! Caroline’s husband had changed from a proud and demeaning man into a kind and loving husband and father, just like Caroline had prayed for years before. Their children are seeking the Lord and pursuing His will. Caroline came out of her state of desperation and into a place of honor and glory; forever changed by the love of God.
